Edwardian silver refers to items manufactured during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, characterised by a revival of classical styles, including Georgian and Neoclassical motifs, alongside Art Nouveau influences.

These boxes are typically constructed from sterling silver, often featuring hand-stamped hallmarks indicating the assay office, date letter, and makers mark, combined with inset ceramic plaques such as Josiah Wedgwoods signature stoneware.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped into the metal, which include the standard mark for sterling silver, the town mark for the assay office, a date letter, and a makers punch, alongside examining the patina and craftsmanship.

Such pieces function well as accent items on a dressing table, coffee table, or bookshelf, adding a touch of metallic texture and historical contrast to contemporary minimalist or eclectic spaces.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive silver cloth to maintain the natural oxidisation in recessed details, stored in a low-humidity environment, and kept away from direct sunlight and harsh chemicals.
