Jugendstil is the German manifestation of the wider Art Nouveau movement, active from the late 19th to the early 20th century. It is characterised by organic, flowing lines, stylised floral motifs, and a rejection of historicist revival styles.

These items typically combine high-grade continental silver frames (frequently stamped with purity marks such as 800 or 835) with blown or moulded glass liners, paired with matching miniature silver spoons.

Authentic pieces feature characteristic whiplash lines, naturalistic leaf or bud motifs, makers stamps, and continental silver hallmarks. The integration of pierced metalwork with clear glass liners is also typical of the periods manufacturing techniques.

These decorative accessories work well displayed on a dining table, sideboard, or within a glass-fronted cabinet to add historic metallic texture and fine craftsmanship to contemporary or traditional table settings.

Remove the glass liners before cleaning the silver frame with a specialised, non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth. Wash the glass liners separately in warm soapy water and ensure all components are completely dry before reassembly.
