Art Nouveau emerged in the late 19th century, characterised by organic motifs, sinuous lines, and asymmetric forms inspired by natural phenomena such as plants and animals.

Makers frequently employed sterling silver, base metals, mother-of-pearl, and enamel, often utilising stamping and repousse techniques to achieve detailed relief designs.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining makers marks, hallmark stamps for silver purity and assay offices, natural patina, and traditional construction methods.

These small collectables can be housed in small glass-topped display frames, integrated into curated cabinet collections, or styled on a desk alongside other historical desk objects.

Silver pieces require careful handling to avoid wearing down fine details; they should be stored in dry conditions and cleaned sparingly with non-abrasive cloths to preserve the natural oxidisation.
