Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco bureau designs from the 1930s are characterised by clean geometric shapes, symmetrical silhouettes, bold wood veneers, and streamlined metallic drop handles. They combine a compact writing slope with functional drawers and integrated upper glazed display cabinets.

Pieces from this era typically feature core timber frames covered in figurative veneers such as burr or figured walnut, mahogany, and oak. Glazed doors house internal wooden shelving, and hardware consists of cast chrome, brass, or early plastic drawer pulls.

Authentic pieces feature dovetail drawer joints, original geometric veneer layouts, period metal hardware, and characteristic Art Deco stepped bases or plinths. The timber interiors will reflect age-appropriate oxidation and natural wear.

Place the unit against a neutral or rich jewel-toned wall to showcase the figurative walnut grain. Utilize the upper glazed cabinet for curated ceramics or books while keeping the lower bureau closed for streamlined home office storage.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply high-quality beeswax sparingly along the wood grain to nourish the veneer. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to avoid veneer cracking and color fading.
