Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Target brooches from the Edwardian period feature concentric circular bands surrounding a prominent central gemstone. This geometric layout creates a focal point reminiscent of a target, often incorporating light openwork metalwork, delicate millegrain details, and accent gems like seed pearls.

Edwardian jewellery commonly utilised 9ct, 15ct, or 18ct yellow gold, alongside platinum mountings. Central coloured stones such as amethysts, sapphires, and peridots were frequently paired with natural seed pearls set within fine claw or bezel mountings.

Authentic pieces typically feature early 20th-century findings such as simple tube hinges, extended pin stems, and C-clasps, often accompanied by safety chains. Hallmarks indicating gold fineness alongside delicate hand-finished openwork provide confirmation of age.

An antique target brooch can be secured to modern tailored suit lapels, wool coats, or silk scarves for a focal accent. It can also be worn at the collar of a buttoned shirt or attached to a fabric headband.

Wipe the gold metal gently with a dry, lint-free cloth. Because seed pearls and natural amethysts are sensitive to harsh chemicals and immersion in liquids, avoid ultrasonic cleaners and store the piece separately in a soft pouch to prevent abrasion.
