We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A porringer is a traditional shallow vessel with one or two flat handles, historically used for broths, porridges, or liquids, evolving into decorative and ceremonial silver pieces by the late 17th and 18th centuries.

These items are traditionally fashioned from sterling silver using techniques such as hammering, spinning, casting for handles and finials, and hand-soldering, followed by polishing and English hallmark stamping.

Authenticity is verified through official assay office hallmarks, including the makers mark, standard mark (such as the lion passant for sterling silver), and the date letter corresponding to the specific year of testing.

An antique silver vessel can be displayed as a decorative accent on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or bookshelf, contrasting cleanly with contemporary minimalist or maximalist room schemes.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using non-abrasive silver cloths or specialised polishes, avoiding harsh chemical dips, and stored in a low-humidity environment to prevent excessive tarnish.
