Description

A superbly modelled rare cast solid silver pen holder. It is unmarked but tests as high grade silver, I would date it to c1960s-1970's. It has been superbly designed being solid cast in the form of the Devil. It is in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measures approx. 4 inches (10.4cm) tall by over 1.75 inches (4.6cm) across by 2.75 inches (7cm) front to back and weighs 174 grams. A very nice quality rare piece.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Mid-century decorative desk accessories frequently combined functional utility with whimsical, grotesque, or figurative sculptural designs, reflecting a departure from strict formal classicism.

Solid cast silver objects are produced using traditional lost-wax or sand-casting methods, often finished with hand-chased detailing to accentuate texture and features before receiving a polish.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining hallmarks for assay office symbols, date letters, and makers marks, alongside assessing the natural patina and weight consistent with solid silver.

These pieces function well as focal points on a leather-topped desk or bookcase, contrasting against minimalist modern architecture and streamlined office furniture.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive microfibre cloth and specialised silver polish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip the authentic ageing and patina.
