Antique Silver Novelty Pin Cushion - Aeroplane

1900 - 1920
Description

Well, this is a rarity! A solid sterling silver pin cushion fashioned as an aeroplane.

It is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1912 with the maker's mark of S Blanckensee & Sons Ltd. It also has a patent number stamped on the tail. Designed as a monoplane with wing spars, there is a rotating propellor and central skid with 3 spoked wheels and original, worn cushion. A wonderful item.
