Aramis Antiques has dated this Silver Art Deco Cigarette Box to the 1940s.
The clip opener and backing are plain silver as is the oblong cartouche below. The flat protruding feet are also consistent with Deco design. The box is lined with cedar wood. In WWII food was rationed and just about everyone smoked cigarettes to keep the hunger pangs at bay - most homes would have had a box like this - and the design of it was well chosen. It is in very good condition, with some wear consistent with age on the leather base but no splits in the leather. Weight 11oz/340gr including loaded base.
