Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A solitaire engagement ring is characterised by a single focal gemstone set upon a metal band without additional accent stones. Originating in its modern form during the late nineteenth century, the style highlights the stones cut and brilliance through minimalist mountings.

Solitaire rings typically feature precious metal bands crafted from 18ct yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, or platinum. Platinum is frequently chosen for the head and setting claws to provide secure structural support and a neutral frame for the central stone.

Authenticity is verified through hallmark stamps on the inside of the band alongside independent gemmological certificates detailing cut, clarity, colour, and carat weight. Microscopic examination also checks claw integrity, metal purity, and internal diamond characteristics.

A traditional solitaire ring pairs cleanly with mixed-metal wedding bands, slim diamond eternity rings, or simple gold bangles. Its balanced silhouette provides a versatile foundation when layered with contemporary tailored pieces.

Clean the setting using warm water, mild liquid detergent, and a soft-bristled brush to remove dust beneath the stone. Regular professional inspections ensure setting claws remain tight and structurally sound over time.
