Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King William IV between 1830 and 1837, these small silver containers were designed to carry ground tobacco powder known as snuff. They represent the transitional design phase between the late Georgian era and early Victorian metalwork.

Sterling silver was predominantly used alongside natural hardstones such as agate, jasper, and tortoiseshell for inlaid lids. The bodies often featured reeded or engine-turned pattern work for added texture and structural durability.

Authentic pieces carry British silver hallmarks including the monarchs profile duty mark, a town mark, a makers mark, and a date letter corresponding to the 1830s. The hinged mechanisms and tight-fitting flush seams reflect the metalworking techniques of the period.

These small decorative objects function as tabletop accents on an office desk, coffee table, or bookshelf display. They can also serve a practical purpose on a dressing table for storing small items of jewellery or cufflinks.

Gently polish the silver exterior with a soft microfibre cloth and specialised silver polish, taking care to avoid harsh chemicals contacting the natural stone lid. Store the object in a dry environment to minimise silver oxidisation.
