Norwegian Silver Gilt Hroar Prydz Blue & White Enamel Butterfly Brooch

An exquisite Norwegian vintage silver and enamel butterfly brooch. This example has a particularly striking colour combination of deep cobalt blue and white enamel with black accents. The wings curve slightly to reflect the light and reveal the exceptionally fine details in the guilloche enamel. The gilt finish to the silver adds a subtle warmth to the body and feelers of the butterfly.

 

The back of the brooch is marked 'Sterling 925 S Norway' with the mark for the well known Norwegian jewellery designer Hroar Prydz. There is a good fastening clasp at the back and the brooch is in super condition.

Period: Circa 1950
