The handsome George 1 style stool dates to circa 1900, perhaps a little earlier with 6 carved and later painted, mahogany cabriole legs featuring hairy hoof feet.
A striking design and scale stool, sometimes known as duet stools, a versatile country house aesthetic that can compliment a classic or contemporary space, at home in a hallway, window seat, end of bed or in front of a sofa, fireplace etc.., an elegant example.
The stool sits well, very stable and structurally excellent, the paint to the legs has rubbed and chipped in places over time, a timeworn character which adds authenticity, all legs and frame are strong and without wobbles.
Original horse hair.
The dusty pink or coral pink, linen fabric is mostly in fair to good condition, without ribs, a couple of minor spots but sold as it is. The fabric is missing it’s fringe edge to the lower sections that join the frame, a simple replacement which would immediately alter its appearance.
