Georgian Silver Rock Crystal Pendant Conversion

18th century
Description

This very pretty antique pendant started out as part of a bigger piece of Georgian jewellery, possibly an earring or a necklace, and has at some time been converted to a very wearable piece which can be hung on a chain or ribbon.

The pendant is solid silver, set with beautiful sparkling old foil-backed black dot rock crystals, including some lovely cushion cuts. The Georgians (c.1714-1837) would paint a black dot on the bottom end of paste stones (the culet) to help give an illusion of depth and make them look more like real diamonds as they glittered in the candlelight.

In excellent antique condition, with a little wear to the facets and some of the foil. One of the stones looks like a historic replacement, it's an old cut but does not have a black dot.

Size: Approximately 2.5 x 3cm, 3.6cm total length including the bail.

Weight: 5.4g.

We currently have a number of lovely Georgian pieces just in (see final photo) which are being added to the shop, see our other listings for more details :)

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
