Antique Afghan Baluch main carpet, with traditional design often associated with the Timuri tribes.
 
Circa 1900.
 
A good main carpet with classic repeat medallion design, both of these medallion types are found on carpets and rugs attributed to the Timuri tribes. The border is also of a classic Timuri design. The carpet has a soft warm colour palette, the dyes are produced with madder and walnut, giving this purple red colour. The olive browns are showing signs of corrosion as one would expect; small highlight details are in light indigo blue and ivory.
 
The carpet has even wear with medium pile, some corrosion to the browns.
