Size: 6ft 3in x 3ft 2in (190 x 96cm).

Antique Afghan Timuri Baluch rug from Western Afghanistan with diagonal lattice design.

Circa 1890.

A good Timuri Baluch rug from Western Afghanistan, the diamond lattice contains a gul like design in diagonal rows of alternating colour, madder red and aubergine. The lattice is in an olive brown that has corroded. The triple borders are all of the linked leaf design in madder and aubergine, the olive brown has again corroded giving a sculpted effect. The rug has very soft wool and is an excellent example of type.

The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile, there is some dye corrosion to the olive browns.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
