This antique Baluch rug originates from the Khorasan province of Eastern Persia, dating from circa 1900 in the Persian Tribal style. The hand-knotted wool carpet displays a terracotta ground colour with dark blue and cream accents, forming an all-over grid pattern of boxed geometric motifs and Turkmen-style gul designs. The field is enclosed by multiple repeating decorative borders containing geometric latch-hook patterns. Visible details include soft pile with slight even wear across the surface, fringed ends, and a flat weave finish. The rug measures 225 cm high by 135 cm wide by 1 cm deep. It is suitable for normal domestic use in a hallway, living room, or study.

Baluch rugs are hand-knotted textiles traditionally created by nomadic Baluch tribes in eastern Iran and western Afghanistan. They are recognised for their dark, saturated colour palettes and intricate repeating geometric patterns.

These rugs are hand-knotted using hand-spun sheep wool for the pile, woven onto a wool or cotton foundation with natural vegetable dyes.

Authentic pieces feature soft wool piles, asymmetrical knotting, flexible dark handles, subtle dye variation (abrash), and geometric compartment or latch-hook motifs.

A tribal rug serves as a grounding accent beneath contemporary or classic furniture, providing warmth, textural depth, and historic contrast on timber floors.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater bar, rotate periodically to distribute wear, and clean spills promptly with cold water and mild soap.
