Size: 6ft 1in x 3ft 8in (186 x 100cm).Antique Afghan Bahluli Baluch rug with a repeat gul design.Circa 1880.Bahluli Baluch rugs are fairly scarce and originate from the borders of Western Afghanistan and the Khorasan region of eastern Persia. This example has a repeat Turkmen inspired gul design in rows of three, with a smaller minor gul between each row. The rug is woven in various shades of madder red on a dark indigo blue ground. The border designs reflect the design of the main field with subtle colour variations.The rug is in good condition with some wear and medium / low pile, there is a narrow band of heavy wear across the middle of the rug that can be seen in the close up images.
