Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Malayer rugs are traditional hand-knotted textiles originating from the town of Malayer in north-western Iran. Produced predominantly during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these carpets are renowned for their individualistic designs, combining geometric motifs with detailed floral patterns.

These carpets are constructed using a durable cotton foundation with a hand-tied wool pile. The wool was coloured using natural vegetable and mineral pigments to produce distinct palettes featuring shades of ivory, terracotta, indigo, and ochre.

Authentic examples feature a hand-tied weave visible on the reverse, natural dye variations known as abrash, and slight rustic irregularities in design symmetry. The combination of intricate central medallions with stylized botanical or animal motifs is also characteristic.

An antique rug provides visual grounding when placed beneath neutral modern seating or within traditional timber-floored rooms. The warm tones and graphic medallion anchoring the piece work effectively in living spaces, dining areas, or study settings.

Vacuum regularly without using a rotating brush bar to prevent fibre damage. Promptly blot liquid spills with an absorbent cloth, rotate the carpet annually to ensure even wear, and arrange professional specialist cleaning when required.
