The coffer is well-constructed with solid joints and is made from robust English oak with pegged joints. The stiles and muntins serve as feet, elevating it from the ground. The front features a reciprocating form with vigorous and intricately detailed carvings, a decorative carved frieze with an iron lock plate, three carved fielded panels, and guilloché carved inserts on the stile supports, mirrored on the sides of each front panel.

The coffer boasts single-panelled ends and a hinged top featuring three deeply moulded fielded panels. The lid, attached with original blacksmith-crafted iron strap hinges, opens to a clean, spacious interior that provides ample storage, preserved in its original condition.

The coffer's triple-panelled back also retains its original unpainted state, showcasing the density and character of the initial timbers, which are also visible inside the spacious interior.
