Exquisite antique Victorian 18ct yellow gold statement brooch in Etruscan Revival style. Centred with a huge oval faceted amethyst that is raised in an openwork foliate setting. The gold is etched and engraved with wriggle work borders and decorated with filigree cannetille rope-work and applied bead and leaf design in the form of berry plants.
Wonderful deep and rich purple hue to the gemstone.

Very good antique condition. Small ding along the border on reverse; one of the ball decorations is pierced; part of the applied rope decoration is lacking in one place; tiny fleabites to stone; tiny split along the decorative pierced border.
