Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Arts and Crafts movement originated in the late 19th century, emphasising hand-crafted execution, traditional techniques, and simple forms inspired by nature, as a reaction against mass industrial production.

Artisans typically used sterling silver, hammering the metal by hand to create distinct surface textures and employing soldered wirework or cast botanical motifs for decoration.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the metal, indicating the makers mark, assay office (such as Birmingham), silver standard, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Such pieces can be displayed on a sideboard, within a glazed cabinet, or used as a striking vessel for fresh flowers, adding historic texture and metallic contrast to modern spaces.

Antique silver should be cleaned infrequently using a specialist non-abrasive silver cloth to maintain the patina, avoiding harsh dips, and stored in a dry environment away from direct sunlight.
