Edwardian silver encompasses items produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, characterised by lighter, more graceful designs often drawing inspiration from neoclassical and art nouveau motifs.

These pieces were typically crafted from sterling silver or silver plate, often utilising spinning, stamping, and hand-chasing techniques, frequently weighted at the base with resin or plaster to provide stability.

Authenticity is verified by examining the hallmarks stamped on the metal, which indicate the assay office, standard mark, and date letter corresponding to the era of manufacture.

Polished metal vessels add reflective texture when displayed on sideboards or mantelpieces, contrasting effectively against matte surfaces and contemporary floral arrangements.

Maintain the finish by regular gentle dusting and occasional cleaning with a specialist silver polish, avoiding abrasive cloths that can damage the metallic surface.
