Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating from Kerman in south Persia, these rugs feature an arched niche design (mihrab) filled with dense, intricately woven floral patterns known as millefleurs. Often incorporating vase or tree-of-life motifs, they represent high artistic refinement from nineteenth-century weaving workshops.

Traditionally hand-knotted using fine hand-spun wool pile woven onto a cotton warp and weft foundation. The high knot density allows for detailed curvilinear floral patterns and subtle colour gradations achieved with natural vegetable dyes.

Authentic pieces exhibit slight asymmetry in hand-woven knotting, natural colour variations (abrash) from plant-based dyes, and soft wear patterns consistent with age. Examination of the underside shows visible weave structure rather than uniform machine-made backing.

A distressed antique rug adds texture and depth to contemporary, minimalist, or traditional spaces. Position it as a focal point beneath low-profile furniture or mount it as a decorative textile wall hanging to highlight its detailed pattern.

Vacuum gently without a rotating brush attachment to avoid damaging wool fibres. Professional hand-washing by a specialist rug restorer is recommended, alongside using a quality rug pad underneath to mitigate friction and wear.
