Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Tree of Life is an ancient design motif in Persian weaving that symbolises eternal life, growth, and the connection between earth and heaven. Historically woven across regional Persian rug-producing centres like Kashan, Isfahan, and Tabriz, these pictorial designs often feature central trees laden with birds, flowers, and woodland animals.

Traditional Persian rugs are hand-knotted using spun wool pile onto a durable cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. Master weavers historically coloured these yarns with natural plant and mineral dyes, resulting in rich tones of madder red, indigo blue, and muted cream.

Authentic hand-knotted rugs display slight variations in knot tension and pattern geometry on the reverse side, unlike machine-made carpets with rigid uniform backing. Natural dye variation, known as abrash, also creates soft horizontal colour bands across the pile.

Place the rug as a focal ground layer beneath neutral seating in living spaces or beneath a dining table to ground the room with texture. The cream field and crimson borders pair effectively with warm oak flooring, leather upholstery, or contemporary minimalist furniture.

Vacuum regularly using suction only to avoid catching the hand-knotted fibers with a rotating brush bar. Rotate the carpet annually to ensure even light exposure and wear, and clean spills immediately with clean water and dry absorbent cloths.
