Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Malayer rugs originate from the Malayer district in northwestern Iran, an area historically renowned for producing single-wefted and double-wefted hand-knotted carpets. These rugs typically feature diverse geometric and floral medallion designs created by village weavers.

Traditional Malayer rugs are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a durable cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. Natural vegetable dyes derived from plants and insects are traditionally employed to colour the yarns.

Authentic Malayer rugs often exhibit symmetrical or asymmetrical hand-knotting with a low to medium pile and characteristically rich indigo and madder red dyes. Variations in weave density and subtle inconsistencies in pattern reflect their traditional village origin.

A distressed antique rug provides texture and historical contrast when placed on minimalist hardwood or polished concrete floors. The aged patina grounds contemporary neutral furniture while anchoring the rooms colour palette.

Vacuum the rug regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater bar to protect the delicate fibres. Professional dry carpet cleaning or spot treatment with mild detergent and cold water is recommended for spills.
