This is a charming rustic antique English Georgian elm chest, which retains its original lock and handles, with ample storage space inside, circa 1820, in excellent original condition. Owing to its rustic / provincial provenance, there are old use marks visible to the top (see photos) and leading edges; all of which adds to the character, age and appeal of this Georgian trunk. Evidence of historical woodworm, which has been thoroughly treated for precaution. Please note, it is common for most elm chests of this age to have signs of historical woodworm, as this was a susceptible timber. The Georgian elm chest has been cleaned and wax-polished by hand, in our workshop, to a professional standard. The Georgian elm chest lid retains it original working steel lock and key. There is also a small brass lock and key for the internal candle box. The interior is clean, dry, and usable and retains its original candle box. The original steel strap hinges and original brass side carrying handle are in good working condition. The trunk retains its original lid, floor, sides and back.
