Edwardian silver and glass pieces, produced during the reign of King Edward VII (19011910), are characterised by lighter, more refined designs often drawing inspiration from neoclassical and art nouveau motifs, moving away from heavy Victorian ornamentation.

These items were typically crafted using hand-blown or mould-blown coloured glass, such as cranberry or ruby glass, combined with sterling silver mounts, collars, and applied silver overlay, often featuring glass stoppers.

Authenticity is usually verified through hallmarks stamped on the silver components indicating the assay office, date letter, and makers mark, alongside signs of age-appropriate wear and hand-crafted glass characteristics like pontil marks.

They can be displayed on mirrored trays, dressing table surfaces, or open shelving alongside other small decorative objects to add a touch of historical texture and rich colour to a room.

Preservation involves dusting the glass gently with a soft cloth and using a non-abrasive silver cloth sparingly on the metal components to avoid damaging delicate silver overlays or removing the patina.
