Art Deco jewellery, prominent during the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by geometric symmetry, clean lines, strong colour contrasts often using emeralds, rubies, or sapphires, and the frequent use of platinum as a setting material.

Period rings often utilised high-purity platinum settings valued for their strength and bright white lustre, combined with hand-cut gemstones such as old European cut diamonds and calibre-cut emeralds secured with detailed claw or channel settings.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-specific hand-cut facets on diamonds, such as old mine or old European cuts, hand-carved platinum detailing, and natural inclusions within emeralds observable under magnification.

An antique ring can be paired with contemporary minimalist bands to highlight its historical craftsmanship, or stacked with complementary geometric pieces to enhance its architectural design.

Regular professional inspection of settings is essential to ensure stones remain secure, and cleaning should be performed gently using warm soapy water and a soft brush, avoiding harsh ultrasonic cleaners particularly with emeralds.
