Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mid-20th-century British enamelled silverware often features guilloche engine-turning under translucent vitreous enamel, frequently decorated with hand-painted floral motifs such as roses. Produced in major hallmarking centres like Birmingham and London, these pieces combined traditional silversmithing with delicate decorative arts.

These candlesticks are constructed from sterling silver (925 purity) forming the structural frame, nozzle, and base, paired with vitreous glass enamel fused onto an engine-turned metal substrate to create textured, light-reflecting patterns.

Authentic British silver from this period displays a series of stamped hallmarks including the makers mark, the lion passant for sterling purity, an assay office symbol (such as an anchor for Birmingham), and a specific date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Position them as a symmetrical pair on a dining table, console, or sideboard to add subtle colour and historic texture. Their reflective silver and delicate enamel work complement both traditional wooden furniture and modern minimalist settings.

Wipe the enamel surfaces gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to prevent scratching. Clean the silver elements using a specialised silver polishing cloth, taking care not to let chemical polishes touch or seep into the enamelled sections.
