Objects produced during the George V era often reflected traditional craftsmanship alongside post-Edwardian design shifts, heavily utilising sterling silver for domestic vanity and dressing table accessories.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as spinning, stamping, and engine-turning, often featuring fitted interior linings made of velvet, silk, or satin.

Authenticity is verified by examining the hallmarks stamped on the metal, which typically include a makers mark, the sterling standard lion passant, the town mark for assay offices such as Birmingham, and a date letter.

Placed on a dressing table, bedside surface, or open shelving, such objects add metallic reflection, historical texture, and understated elegance to modern minimalist or eclectic spaces.

Silver should be cleaned infrequently using a specialised non-abrasive silver cloth to maintain the patina, stored away from high humidity, and handled with care to prevent scratching or damage to engine-turned patterns.
