Rare 17th Century Travelling Armada Chest Type Casket

Description

Small iron casket for transporting valuables in the 17th century, made in the style of an armada chest with an intricate internal locking mechanism that fastens the top all the way round, hidden lock with secret sliding rose that releases the centre band to access the lock. We have a key to the lock though it is not the original, very secure when locked and quite heavy so has carrying handles to the sides. This is a very early secure box for transporting valuable items in your carriage when the roads were not safe to travel.
