Description

An early Victorian mourning brooch c1850. The brooch front ornate frame is gilt metal (ormolu) with a black enamel interior bearing the words In Memoriam in gilt italic script. At the centre is a glazed cartouche holding plaited chestnut hair. The back of the brooch has a pin and a ring for optional use as a pendant or for a security chain. In excellent condition for its age.
