A Gorgeous French Silver Chatelaine/pendant Compact

19th century
Description

A gorgeous small French silver compact for a pendant chain or chatelaine. This wonderful example is in the Art Nouveau taste and is decorated with flowers, ribbons etc. The hinged lid opens to reveal a fully gilded interior, set with a mirror. The compact has French hallmarks and has a shaped and tactile body. A fine and desirable piece of silver from a bygone age. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent with no splits or dents. There is no loss to the interior gilding. There are a couple of pinprick dimples to the lid and underside of the body, commensurate with age and use.

Date :- c1890.

Maker :- PQ.

Hallmarks :- Boars head struck twice and Maker's mark.

Width :- 4 cms.

Height :- 4.3 cms.

Depth :- 1.1 cm.
