The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1894 with the maker's mark of George Unite. It is a plain rectangle opened via a sprung hinged cover which has a suspension loop. It opens to reveal ten numbered pegs (not marked).
The sides show some slight surface abrasions, but nothing that one wouldn't expect from an item of this age.
