Condition wise, it has original fringes and they are lower in height in areas, but all original. Sides are secure and the wool pile is good on this rug.
Shirvan rugs are famous for their tribal motifs and interesting tribal designs. With animals, people, yurts, and geometric motifs from lots of different Caucasian rugs. Shirvan is a region of Azerbaijan in the southeastern Caucasus. With the exception of a group of rugs woven in the vicinity of Baku, most Shirvan's are generally found in small sizes, with examples from the southern part of the area around the town of Saliani more likely to be in the long, narrow format described in the West as runners.
