Antique Caucasian Akstafa long rug with four star medallions and birds.

This is a good example of a well known group of long rugs attributed to the town of Akstafa. This rug is of classic design with four 'star' medallions on a midnight blue ground. Each medallion is flanked by the traditional Akstafa birds with large peacock like tails. The field is filled with many tribal devices and designs. The border is a good example of the classic ivory ground Akstafa design.

The rug has a soft floppy handle with fine wool, the colour palette gives the rug a soft warm feel.
Hand washed and ready for use or display.
