Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Woven in the Caucasus region during the late nineteenth century, Gendje and Kazak rugs are known for their bold tribal geometry, strong central fields, and distinctive diagonal or banded motifs. These textiles reflect nomadic weaving traditions, featuring abstract symbols, star borders, and vibrant natural dye palettes.

Authentic Caucasian rugs from this era were hand-knotted using locally sourced, hand-spun wool for both the pile and the warp and weft foundation. The yarn was dyed using natural plant and insect dyes, resulting in characteristic tonal variations known as abrash.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces feature hand-bound selvedges, slight geometric asymmetry, and flexible wool foundations rather than rigid cotton backings. Look for natural abrash colour shifts across the pile and detailed knotting visible on the reverse side.

A geometric Caucasian rug works effectively as a focal point against neutral timber or stone flooring. Combining bold tribal patterns with clean-lined modern furniture creates a balanced, eclectic aesthetic that bridges historic craftsmanship with modern design.

Vacuum regularly using suction only to avoid catching individual knots with a beater bar. Place a high-quality rug pad underneath to prevent slipping and wear, rotate the rug periodically to ensure even light exposure, and seek specialist cleaning for spills.
