Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Caucasian Lesghi star rugs originate from the Dagestan and Shirvan regions of the Caucasus. They are characterized by geometric eight-pointed star medallions, often framed by complex borders containing stylised animal or floral motifs.

Traditional Caucasian rugs are hand-woven using hand-spun wool for both the pile and the foundation (warp and weft). The wool was historically dyed using natural vegetable and mineral dyes, resulting in rich, saturated colour palettes.

Authentic 19th-century pieces feature all-wool foundations, soft natural abrash dye variations, and asymmetric hand-knotted construction. The underside shows clear knotting patterns without latex backing, and the designs reflect regional geometric iconography rather than factory precision.

A geometric Caucasian rug adds visual anchor and warm colour to stripped wooden floors in modern, minimalist, or eclectic interiors. Layering the rug beneath neutral seating or using it in a hallway creates a focal point that bridges contemporary and traditional aesthetic elements.

Routine maintenance requires gentle vacuuming without a rotating beat bar to prevent fiber distortion. Professional cleaning should be undertaken by a specialist in antique hand-knotted textiles, and the rug should be turned annually to ensure even wear.
