Art Deco jewellery, prominent from the 1910s to the 1930s, is characterised by geometric precision, symmetrical designs, clean lines, and a frequent contrast between platinum or white gold and vibrant gemstones.

Jewellery from this era often combined platinum with yellow gold settings, utilising intricate filigree, milgrain edging, and hand-cut diamonds alongside natural untreated or minimal-oil emeralds.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-cut stones specific to the period, such as old European cuts or transitional cuts, alongside period hallmarking, hand-forged metalwork, and appropriate age-related wear.

An antique emerald ring serves as a striking focal point and can be worn alone as a statement solitaire or paired with delicate modern gold bands to highlight its historic geometric charm.

Emeralds are softer than diamonds and sensitive to harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners; they should be cleaned gently with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, avoiding steam cleaning and hard impacts.
