Victorian Scottish pebble jewellery features native stones such as agate, jasper, and bloodstone set in silver, gaining immense popularity during the mid to late 19th century largely due to Queen Victorias affection for Balmoral and the Scottish Highlands.

These items are typically constructed from solid sterling silver or silver-gilt, featuring hand-carved and polished hardstones meticulously bezel-set into engraved metalwork embellished with traditional Celtic or floral motifs.

Authentic pieces often exhibit period-appropriate hallmarks or safety clasps, handcrafted silver engraving with natural signs of oxidisation, and genuine cold-to-the-touch mineral stones rather than modern synthetic glass or resin.

An antique buckle can be mounted in a shadow box frame as wall art or displayed on a specialist metal stand within a study or cabinet of curiosities to add historical texture and colour.

Preserve these items by storing them in a dry, tarnish-resistant pouch away from direct sunlight, cleaning the silver gently with a specialist microfibre cloth, and avoiding chemical dips that can damage natural banded agates.
