Edwardian jewellery, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, is characterised by delicate, lace-like platinum settings, intricate filigree, and a heavy use of diamonds and pearls to achieve a light, ethereal aesthetic.

Goldsmiths of this era frequently combined yellow or rose gold for the shank with platinum on the face of the mounting, a revolutionary technique that maximised the white, reflective brilliance of diamonds while ensuring structural strength.

Authentic pieces often feature hand-cut stones such as old European or old mine cuts, distinctive hand-engraved detailing, natural metal oxidisation in the recesses, and an absence of modern laser hallmarks.

This piece can be worn as a statement engagement ring or stacked alongside minimalist modern bands to create a deliberate contrast between contemporary simplicity and historic complexity.

Regular cleaning should be performed using warm soapy water and a soft brush, avoiding harsh ultrasonic cleaners which can loosen old settings or damage foil-backed or vulnerable stones.
