Description

Here we have a wonderful rare Victorian period Padouk Zanzibar chest c1850. As you can see the chest has fantastic colour and patina. This genuine period chest has everything you would want from a Zanzibar chest. There is a single plank top with studwork detail to the fielded panel. There is a raised border and thumb moulded edge. There is a lovely large interior space with original strap hinges and a candle or herb box. There is a highly decorative sheet brass front with piercings, studwork and roundels. There original drop clasp is in place and the whole sits on squashed bun feet. There are three drawers with original handles and again beautiful brass sheet and studwork decoration. A super example and not one to be missed. The dimensions are approx 120 cm wide 50 cm deep 52 cm high.
