A beautiful rare English Victorian solid sterling silver travelling inkwell or sealable liquids jar. It is hallmarked for London 1883 with the makers marks being that of George Betjemann & Sons. It has been superbly made with the silver lid being engraved with a stag head crest used by the Hicks family, it is also engraved with a motto TOUT EN BON HEURE meaning All in Good Time and initials ACTGH. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits chips cracks and repairs. It measures approx. 3.75 inches (9.8cm) long by 1.5 inches (4cm) wide by 1.5 inches (4cm) tall and weighs 200 grams. A beautifully made rare piece.
