Prometheus Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The base of the tureen lifts out and would be used for hot water to keep the three types of food warm. The large tureen has an equally large removable handle which would be removed on a busy table. The whole is wonderful quality and a heavy gauge with a fine engraved monogram. The piece is marked to the base for William Hutton and Sons of Sheffield. The whole is in very good condition with the odd mark etc. appropriate to the antique nature of the piece. A great and highly unusual piece of Victorian tableware. C.1890.
