The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in the late 19th century as a reaction against industrial mass production, championing traditional craftsmanship and hand-made designs. Designers such as Archibald Knox introduced stylized Celtic revival motifs and organic forms, which became defining characteristics of Liberty & Cos Tudric line.

Tudric items were typically cast from a high-quality alloy of tin, antimony, and copper, often finished with hand-hammered or polished surfaces. They were frequently paired with coloured glass liners, such as green or amber glass, produced by prominent glassmakers of the period.

Authentic pieces usually feature specific manufacturer stamps on the base, including the Tudric brand name, a registered design number (Rd. No.), and sometimes the makers mark or model number. The weight, quality of casting, and distinct Art Nouveau or Celtic motifs also serve as key indicators of authenticity.

These pieces work well as focal points on sideboards, open shelving, or coffee tables, where their distinctive metallic sheen and coloured glass can contrast with neutral modern materials. Pairing them with other handcrafted items helps create a curated, layered aesthetic.

Pewter should be cleaned gently using warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then dried thoroughly to prevent water spots. Avoid harsh chemical polishes and abrasive pads, as preserving the natural patina is essential for maintaining the historical integrity and value of the object.
