Combined instruments became popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries as multifunctional accessories for executive desks, combining utility with fine craftsmanship.

High-end desk accessories were traditionally forged from solid sterling silver, often featuring hallmarks indicating the maker, city of assay, and year of production.

Authentic pieces typically bear clear makers marks, such as Asprey, alongside standard silver hallmarking stamps indicating the fineness of the metal.

Place the piece flat on an executive desk, blotter, or bookshelf display to add metallic contrast and a touch of historical utility to the workspace.

Clean silver periodically with a soft microfibre cloth and specialized silver polish to remove tarnish, storing the item in a dry environment to prevent oxidation.
