Victorian jewellery spans the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901) and is typically categorised into three distinct periods: the Romantic, Grand, and Aesthetic eras, each reflecting shifting societal values and technological advancements in metallurgy.

Jewellery from this era predominantly utilised yellow gold, rose gold, and silver-topped gold settings, frequently incorporating natural gemstones such as emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and old-cut diamonds.

Authenticity is assessed through hallmarks, hand-cut gemstone facets characteristic of the period, closed-back or high-collet settings, and natural signs of microscopic wear consistent with age and hand-craftsmanship.

An antique ring can serve as a striking focal point when worn alone on the hand, pairing effectively with contemporary minimalist attire to highlight the historical craftsmanship and vibrant natural colour of the stone.

Emeralds require gentle care due to their natural inclusions and should never be exposed to ultrasonic cleaners, harsh chemicals, or extreme temperature fluctuations; professional cleaning and regular prong checks are recommended.
