The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the 1930s.
Clearly hallmarked on the side for Birmingham 1937, with the maker's mark for James Fenton & Co.
It is huge and plain and difficult to photograph. A perfectly spherical shape with elegant wide, looping handles, free of inscriptions.
There is one small crease, less than 2cm in length and not deep, just below the rim, otherwise in excellent condition. A wonderful piece.
