It was listed by The Silver Cabinet. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.
The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Crisp hallmarks on the base date this to Sheffield 1899, with the maker's mark for Mappin & Webb. The salver is wonderfully plain, with no inscriptions past or present. It has a shaped ogee boarder and it is raised on three claw and ball feet. As one would expect, there are surface scratches, but they are light.
